I’ve had people tell me that this song sounds like a gospel song. I do think it does have a bit of a hymn type quality to it. Interestingly, there was no particular inspiration for it. It was one in which the lyrics and melody unfolded in a way that was unexpected. As I often do in situations like that, I followed it wherever it wanted to take me. Because a lot of times when I write a song I almost feel as if I am being given that song, and it is my job to tune into it and almost sort of take dictation. There is a magic quality to where songs come from that is very mysterious to me. I’ve learned not to analyze it, but to just have faith that the process is going to take me where I’m supposed to go
