Speed Of Life
Speed Of Life
(Music & Lyrics by Ronald D. Crowder)

Over the last decade or so, a lot of pop music has taken on a sort of hypnotic quality, where the chord progression will stay the same throughout the entire song, while the melody to the verse, chorus, and bridge will change. It’s an interesting phenomenon. When I first started to write this song, I was experimenting with that technique. My lyrics are saying what I try to tell myself, “Pay attention. This is our one chance to be alive, as far as we know. Don’t take anything for granted and make the most of all of the time we have.”
Listen to song
Half awake, you’re starting to come around
Pick up the pace, knowing you can’t slow down
No time to waste, your feet never touch the ground
Touch the ground
Into the rush, blood pumping through your veins
Turn it up, playing the same refrain
Day after day, you’re doing it all again
And again
But don’t turn away
If you blink you’re gonna’ miss it
The life you radiate
Is a miracle
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Hold on tight
‘Cause you’re moving at the speed of life
I can see you burn so bright
And like the stars, you light up the night, light up the night
Don’t close your eyes
One chance to be alive
Go on and let your spark ignite
The fire and light up the night, light up the night
You’ve got your dreams but they’re sitting idle
Sometimes it seems like they’re dead on arrival
And everything is merely survival
Oh, oh
But don’t turn away
If you blink you’re gonna’ miss it
The life you radiate
Is a miracle
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Hold on tight
‘Cause you’re moving at the speed of life
I can see you burn so bright
And like the stars, you light up the night, light up the night
Don’t close your eyes
One chance to be alive
Go on and let your spark ignite
The fire and light up the night, light up the night
It’s a carnival ride
At the speed of life
Gonna’ set your heart ablaze
Come on let your dreams take flight
At the speed of life
Take a chance and fly away
Hold on tight
‘Cause you’re moving at the speed of life
I can see you burn so bright
And like the stars, you light up the night, light up the night
Don’t close your eyes
One chance to be alive
Go on and let your spark ignite
The fire and light up the night, light up the night
Light up the night, light up the night
Light up the night, light up the night
Light up the night
